As we get older time seems to go by faster and faster and before we know it another month has gone by. But before we let this month slip away let’s find a reason to celebrate! Here are some unconventional holidays to celebrate in June.

June has arrived and we are welcoming it with open arms! It’s beginning of summer and that means fun in the sun for Charlotteans. June is full of amazing things to do but if you need some extra holidays to throw onto your calendar, then check out our favorite, unconventional holidays to celebrate in June!

National Gardening Week

Plant Nite

Start the month off right with National Gardening Week. The holiday is always the first full week of June and is a time to celebrate one of America’s favorite pastimes, gardening. It may be a little hard to find a garden in the city, but if you want to work out your green thumb then try out a class with Plant Nite. Or if getting your hands dirty isn’t your thing, then a stroll around the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden or Winghaven Gardens will do.

June Fun Fact: For all of those with an insatiable sweet tooth, June is Cady Month! Head over to Crave Dessert Bar to satisfy all of your sweet cravings.

National Donut Day

June 2nd, National Donut Day has to be one of our favorites, because who doesn’t love donuts? Joe’s Doughs is a local favorite that is serving up some creative sweets that are only served fresh. Or if you like your donuts with a gourmet twist, then check out Suarez Bakery. From classics, like glazed to the unique Texas donut cake, you won’t be disappointed with the donut selection in the Queen City.

National Trails Day

Mountain Biking

Between all the candy and donuts it’s time to work off those calories! June 3rd is National Trails Day, so before the city gets blistering hot, get out and explore. From the Mcalpine Trail, to mountain biking at the USNWC, there are tons of places to get active in Charlotte.

Pick Your Poison

Sky Diving

You’ve heard the saying, “Name Your Poison,” which simply means, make a decision. On June 8th, Name Your Poison Day is a day to celebrate decisions and to try something new. A Shake. Stir. Sip. Socialize. Liberate Your Palate cocktail class is the perfect new activity to try. You will learn to make delicious craft cocktails that you can even make at home. And if you want to pair your new craft cocktail skills with some delicious food, then try a Tapas Tasting Class at Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen. Learn to make small plates that will be sure to satisfy your taste buds. But if you want to take a giant leap of faith then jump out of a plane with Skydive Carolina! You won’t have the chance to look when you’re flying high and experiencing something new!

June Fun Fact: June 14, Monkey Around Day is a day to let loose and just monkey around! Whether you are playing video games at Abari Game Bar or swinging in between trees at the Ropes Course at the USNWC, make sure you are having fun!

National Yoga Day

Silks

Whether you are a yogi, fitness junkie or just want to try something new, National Yoga Day on June 21st is great reason to get active. Every yoga spot in the city is different and offers something for everyone, but if aerial silks is where you thrive, then Aerial CLT is the place to be. You will learn the basics of silks and don’t stress, not even a pull up is required to start your journey. But if your love of yoga matches your love of beer, then check out a yoga class with Work for Your Beer. Whether you’re unwinding with silks or sipping on your favorite brew while in mountain pose, get your yoga on.

With the warmer weather and clear skies, you may get the chance to see a meteor shower on June 30th. Known as Meteor Watch Day, it’s a time to look to the skies in search of meteor showers. If we are lucky enough we get a glimpse of a shower in the Queen City.
